About Nordvik

Nordvik Logistics is a freight forwarder based in Gdańsk, working the Baltic corridor since 2018. Road and short-sea, mostly industrial cargo, mostly unglamorous.

The monitoring platform was not a business plan. In 2021 a client's pallet went missing somewhere between our gate and our dock. The camera had been recording, but the recorder in the office had been overwriting the same day for weeks — its disk had filled in spring and nobody had checked. We could not show what happened, so we paid, and we lost the account.

The fix was to stop keeping footage at the site. Cameras push to us, we hold the archive, and a terminal with a dead uplink stops being a blind spot — it becomes a gap we can see and backfill. Once it worked for our own yards, other forwarders asked to use it. Since 2023 it is a product, and today it covers 74 sites across nine countries.

We are 31 people, of whom 9 work on the platform. The forwarding business still pays for itself, which means the platform does not have to grow at a pace someone else sets.
